Pirates and Mermaids and Whales, Oh My! A Voyage to Davey Jones’ Locker
Through original songs as well as traditional ballads and chanteys, we go on a nautico-musical voyage, exploring worlds above, below, and across what Herman Melville (in his classic Moby Dick) calls ‘the watery part of the world’. From backyard pools to Treasure Island– one of my all-time favorite books!– through Gilbert and Sullivan and The Little Mermaid, (a perennial kid and parent favorite), danna banana will continually amuse, educate, delight and surprise you with this energetic, interactive, program. We end with a rousing chorus of At the Library, db’s new upbeat paean to libraries and librarians. To get your summer sea legs, saunter on down to your local library for a whale of a show!
BANANAPPEAL
Half-hour show solo show with Danna Banana and his guitar. He does his own unique and memorable tunes along with traditional songs, country songs and city songs, and he invariably gets everyone clapping and dancing and singing along. Appropriate & adaptable for museums, classroom visits, libraries, birthdays, and parties of all kinds.
I AM NOT SILLYe!
Featuring his smash hit title song along with a host of others, old and new, his own inimitable tunes plus unique interpretations of classic pop and kid tunes, this 50 minute show for 4-8 year olds is sure to get parents and kids up and dancing and leave all with a smile on their face– er, I mean his or her face. Can be performed solo or with 2, 3, or 4-piece band.
MAD about BOOKS
MAD stands for Music And Drama, because in this show we make reading come alive-literally! We take familiar kids books and make kids the stars. We read the book, then pick moments to act out and dramatize. Danna Banana provides the ‘score’ as kids become bunnies, fishes, faeries, monsters…There’s no music to learn, no special skills necessary, we just use our imaginations to take the story from the page to the stage. The show entrances little ones while teaching listening skills, cooperation, and following directions. Older kids get a kick out of the costumes and the storytelling.
Books we’re “MAD about…” include classics like Runaway Bunny, Are You My Mother?, Jules Feiffer’s Meanwhile, and a range of fairy tales. but we’re always adding to the list, and venues are encouraged to suggest their own audience favorites.
BANANUKAH!
danna banana’s unique and entertaining Hanukah show has been such a smash with audiences of all kinds it’s merited its own website– http://www.bananukah.com. We tell the story of the Hanukah holiday, with costumes, audience participation, and voiceovers from ‘BNN- the banana news network’ and then celebrate the modern holiday with songs, latkes– and presents, of course! Full script and score requires at least one extra band member.
SUDDENLY SUMMER
A one hour, high-energy fun-filled journey through summer, based on his recent Suddenly Summer cd celebrating all things summer. with songs about baseball, bikes, beaches, barbecues, 4 of July and of course, just doing nothing. Lights, costumes, SUMMER! This energetic, fully scripted show for all ages requires a theatre or venue w/ in-house sound and lights.
SUMMER FUN SHOW
An summertime concert featuring songs from Suddenly Summer but including a wide variety of tunes, old and new, borrowed or penned by Mr. Banana in his colorful, laugh-along, sing-along style. Great for camps. schools or outdoor venues like fairs, picnics or barbecues. I do love a good barbecue. Don’t forget the sunscreen!
